The ongoing pandemic is having a massive financial impact on our centre and after almost 80 years of serving the community, we have had no choice but to close the centre’s doors.

With your support, when our doors can finally reopen we will be there to welcome you back.

There are so many ways you can fundraise for us, and we’ve got loads of ideas and inspiration to help you.

We want you to have fun whilst raising money for us, and that’s why we have launched a JustGiving Charity Page to help make creating and sharing your fundraising activities even easier!

Check out the following simple steps that we recommend for creating a successful fundraiser and don’t forget, we will be here to support you every step of the way.

Step One – Choose your fundraising activity

Here are just a few ideas to set you on your way.

Fitness at home – Set yourself a physical challenge and track your progress with an app like Strava.

Virtual gathering – Use live streaming or video calls to host an online quiz or social events.

Gaming – take part in a sponsored gaming marathon or competition.

Taking part in an event – Anything from a marathon, triathlon, charity bike ride to a sponsored walk.

Celebrating an occasion – Ask friends and family for donations rather than a birthday or wedding gift.

Doing your own thing – Shave your head, give up chocolate – do something unique to you!

Remember, when it comes to fundraising, the possibilities are endless.

Step two – Set up your JustGiving page

The best and easiest way to raise money for your challenge is to set up a JustGiving page via our own charity page.

Step three – Share your challenge

Once you have set up your JustGiving page, you can share the page with your friends and family so they can sponsor you. 

By doing this, you’re more likely to hit your fundraising target.

Step four – Complete your challenge

Now, the only thing left to do is to complete your challenge and have lots of fun doing it.

Remember to post regular updates to your JustGiving page to keep your sponsors updated with your challenge progress.

Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Long Ashton Community Association to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Long Ashton Community Association we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Long Ashton Community Association to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Long Ashton Community Association will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Long Ashton Community Association receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.
