Our Community Cafe is open on Monday – Friday 10:00 – 13:30 as well as the first Saturday of the month (Village market days) between 09:30-16:00
Come along and enjoy coffee, tea, home-made cakes or biscuits and adult’s and children’s lunches at reasonable prices, in our relaxed cafe environment. We can offer the full range of coffees including Latte, Cappuccino or Americano served fresh from our coffee machine by trained barista staff. Take away available if you wish. We use local suppliers wherever possible; do you have a produce you’d like us to stock? Get in touch!
Products we currently stock:
6 flavours of Chew Moos premium quality ice cream produced on a family farm in Dundry from a pedigree herd of Guernsey cows
Healthy vegan, gluten-free soups from Bristol-based catering company Kabala Kitchen. They supply us with soups using seasonal vegetables; examples of flavours include creamy red lentil, chunky Mexican bean and classic cream of tomato.
Step & Stone products are available to buy from the cafe. Step & Stone are a Bristol-based bakery who makes handmade lavosh flatbreads with a social purpose. They work with young people with learning disabilities, helping to develop their skills and confidence so they can eventually find employment in the mainstream catering world. This community interest company even use our village hall kitchen as their bakery, so the flatbreads are made on site!
We stock apple juice from Barleywood orchard, which is made using a traditional manual press, from unsprayed apples grown on the Mendips. We also sell an range of Orchard Pig fizzy fruity drinks, which are also made in Somerset.
We source our white and granary bread from Weston-Super-Mare based Winnie’s Bakery, and serve it with our sandwiches, toasties and soups. Winnie is the name of the natural ferment that is used in the baking process, and combined with wild yeast and sea salt, the loaf is chemical-free!
We use Bristol-based Clifton Coffee for our coffee beans, which we freshly grind to make our Espresso, Americano, Latte and Cappucino. This company also supplies and servives our coffee machine, and trains our baristas, meaning that we can ensure we provide the highest quality cup of coffee!
What else is on offer:
Wifi is available in the cafe free-of-charge- please just ask for the password at the counter
We have a small Community Library in the LA Cafe, where you can donate any books you like and don’t need. Likewise, borrow from it anything you want to. This is a combination of what used to be called the Transition Library (green / spiritual / political / social), and the LA Cafe’s collection of novels that was in a basket in the cafe.
