We have some exciting job and volunteer opportunities at the centre. We are recruiting for the following roles:

·       Temporary caretaking cover (paid):

We are looking for occasional caretaking cover for sickness and annual leave, which would involve weekday or weekend shifts. Main duties include setting up halls for users, greeting new users at the start of bookings and checking cleanliness of halls. Candidates should be hard-working, reliable, have good customer service skills, and be able to partake in physically demanding tasks such as moving stacks of chairs and trestle tables.

·       Friends of LACA (voluntary):

Would you be interested in organising events for the community centre that can be enjoyed by those residing in our village and beyond? Being a charity, a number of these events would need to raise money for the community centre. We are looking for a team of vibrant, forward-thinking individuals to form a brand new social team on a voluntary basis. We are looking for a diverse mix of people who are passionate about Long Ashton and can come up with innovative and creative ideas about events and fundraising for the centre. We are particularly seeking those with a background and/or skills in these key areas: event planning, finance, networking, and digital marketing.

·       Trustees (voluntary):

Do you live in Long Ashton?

Want to gain or use your management, decision making, leadership and team working skills?

Want to get behind the scenes of a charity and be involved in shaping how it operates and how it connects and supports the community?

Then the role of a Trustee with Long Ashton Community Association is for you!

We currently have a team of six trustees, and space for three more.

The role of a Trustee is to:

  • Ensure that the charity has a clear vision, mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these;
  • Be responsible and accountable for the performance of the charity and for its corporate behaviour;
  • Ensure that the charity complies with all legal and regulatory requirements;
  • Act as guardians of the charity’s assets, both tangible and intangible, taking all due care over their security, deployment and proper application;
  • Ensure that the charity’s governance is of the highest possible standard.

Trustee meetings are held at the community centre in Long Ashton once a month. We also hold an annual AGM which we expect all Trustees to attend.

Trustees will be asked, from time to time, to carry out pieces of work outside of monthly meetings such as supporting events, funding applications attending meetings etc, on behalf of LACA; work is distributed to those who are able and willing to take on extra roles as trustees.

Trustees require a passion for Long Ashton but don’t require any prior knowledge of working for a charity.
