We are a community hub located in the heart of Long Ashton, created to serve the diverse needs of the village, and to facilitate and promote education, recreation and leisure.

Pop-up cafe, recreation ground, activities timetable, regular events, rooms for hire, volunteering opportunities and much more.

Staffing

The community centre is managed by the Long Ashton Community Association, a charity set up in 1965, and the buildings are leased to us by the Long Ashton Parish Council, who own the land. The Association is primarily run by a management committee of voluntary trustees and a paid office manager, all of whom meet monthly to discuss various issues relating to the running of the facilities. Other employees hired to support the manager include an office assistant and three caretakers, one of whom carries out recreational ground warden duties and another who assists with general maintenance tasks. A number of volunteers support us in running and promoting our regular events and activities.

For the L A Cafe, a cafe manager, as well as three paid cafe workers, are employed by LACA, and they are supported by a team of around 20 volunteers who take on regular shifts in the cafe. The community centre garden, which is the strip of land located just outside of the Club Room, is completely managed and looked after by a team of volunteer gardeners. For more information about volunteering opportunities, take a look here.

Funding

We are a registered charity, and are completely self-funded. We rely on the help of volunteer staff, successful grant applications (for example those from the Parish Council) and on money raised through fundraising events organised by either ourselves or community members, for example the Long Ashton Beer and Cider Festival, or the Wine Tasting organised in conjunction with The Little Tipple. We also rely on money raised through hiring out our rooms and facilities to both regular and to one-off users. By visiting our centre for an event, for the L A Cafe, or to hire our rooms, you are helping keep the centre up and running, and contributing towards a well-used and much-loved asset to the village.

Our vision

As a registered charity, all of our profits are plunged straight back in to the community centre, in order to enable us to continue serving the local village community. Read about our main aims here
